SPB health update: SP Balasubrahmanyam ‘extremely critical’ - Times of India

Veteran singer SP Balasubrahmanyam, who has been undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chennai after being tested positive for COVID-19 since the last few weeks, is reportedly ‘extremely critical’. The multi-award-winning singer continues to be on life support.

A press note from the hospital management states, “Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam who had been admitted on August 5, remains on ECMO and other life support measures. His condition in the last 24 hours has deteriorated further warranting maximal life support and he is extremely critical. The team of experts are closely monitoring his health condition.”

A couple of days ago, SPB’s son, actor-singer-producer SP Charan, had stated that the popular singer continued steady progress towards getting better and was eager to leave the hospital as early as possible. The latest update from the hospital has his friends and fans worried. A couple of weeks ago, his colleagues from Kollywood and fans across the world participated in a mass virtual prayer and even played many of his hit songs. As SPB battles the virus bravely, his well-wishers continue to send him their prayers and positive energy.
