626 MP Govt school teachers to conduct counselling of students - Times of India

INDORE: Around 626 government school teachers from across Madhya Pradesh have been selected to conduct counselling of students.

School education department is in the process of developing 313 counselling centres at block-level.

School teachers who hold a degree of Master of Arts (MA) in Psychology or have a post graduate (PG) diploma in Psychology were invited to be a part of the online examination for the post of counsellors.

“While the department has already launched the helpline number-14425- a couple of days back for the students, over 600 teachers had been selected through an online test which was followed by a personal interview for the counselling centres across the state. The process of selection has been over,” joint director of Indore division’s school education department, Manish Verma told TOI.

As per the plan, each counselling centre will have two counsellors each and as Indore division consists of four development blocks, eight teachers have been selected from Indore, he added.

These teachers will soon undergo 10-day training for the counselling sessions.

These counsellors will go to government schools of the assigned blocks and will also conduct counselling through phone calls, said Verma.
